The Role of J-Ideas: J-Ideas, founded in late 2003 through funds from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Lilly Endowment, supports and fosters scholastic journalism and First Amendment awareness. The group accomplishes this through a mix of on-site, digital and tailored programs and activities. J-Ideas also maintains this web site. The J-Ideas web site is located at J-Ideas communications The J-Ideas staff produces a newsletter each month. This publication is geared toward high school advisers and students, delivering tips and trends, current events, important dates and other valuable information to help beginning advisers and veteran teachers alike. The newsletter also features, “In Principle,” a page directed toward high school principals and administrators. This first-of-its-kind publication gives principals advice on working effectively with the student media as well as how to operate within the First Amendment at the high school level. The newsletter reaches a national audience via e-mail distribution lists, regular mailings as well as the Journalism Education Association's listserv. Director: Warren Watson: (765) 285-8211
