Student Press Law Center Q/A

By: Warren Watson

Transcript of interview with Adam Goldstein, lawyer with the Student Press Law Center

November 12, 2004

I spoke with Adam Goldstein, a lawyer with the Washington-based Student Press Law Center, about the Center's recent announcement that is fielding a record number of informational requests from high school journalists who are facing problems with censorship and other problems related to their rights under the First Amendment.

Q - To what do you attribute the increased activity at the Student Press Law Center?

A - There is a trend toward the government erring on the side of not disclosing things rather than disclosing things. There's more control. There's a lot more time being spent now on Freedom of Information battles.
